Elexa Waugh is licensed to provide occupational therapy services in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
I have been an occupational therapist practicing in the DC metro area for the last ten years. I have spent this time as a therapist studying how people move and position their bodies in their environments and how those choices affect their bodies long term.
Trained initially in design, it was quite a change to switch career paths and pursue occupational therapy. But, I have found the two paths to be intertwined in home modifications and ergonomics.
I have trained and worked in adult day care centers, inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, inpatient psychiatric care, assisted living, independent living, and in client’s homes. I love working with people to promote their best ability to engage in the things they want to safely.
I have pursued the following certifications and specializations to specialize in on the practice of home modifications and remote ergonomic assessments:
Certified Aging in Place Specialist through the National Association for Home Builders
Board Certification in Gerontology from the American Occupational Therapy Association
Executive Certificate in Home Modification from the University of Southern California
Remote Ergonomic Assessment Specialist Certification from the Back School
