Elexa Waugh is licensed to provide occupational therapy services in the District of Columbia and Maryland.

I have been an occupational therapist practicing in the DC metro area for the last ten years.  I have spent this time as a therapist studying how people move and position their bodies in their environments and how those choices affect their bodies long term.

Trained initially in design, it was quite a change to switch career paths and pursue occupational therapy. But, I have found the two paths to be intertwined in home modifications and ergonomics.

I have trained and worked in adult day care centers, inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, inpatient psychiatric care, assisted living, independent living, and in client’s homes. I love working with people to promote their best ability to engage in the things they want to safely.

I have pursued the following certifications and specializations to specialize in on the practice of home modifications and remote ergonomic assessments:

  • Certified Aging in Place Specialist through the National Association for Home Builders

  • Board Certification in Gerontology from the American Occupational Therapy Association

  • Executive Certificate in Home Modification from the University of Southern California

  • Remote Ergonomic Assessment Specialist Certification from the Back School
